【报告摘要】The goal of this talk is to trace the development from a result on linear resolutions of certain ideals associated to subspace arrangements to the identification of the notion of Cartwright--Sturmfels ideals. This journey highlights not only the motivation behind introducing these ideals but also their connections to other concepts such as universal Groebner bases and Brion's multiprojective varieties with multiplicity free multidegrees. The talk is based on a series of papers co-authored with De Negri and Gorla, and a recent paper with De Negri and Welker.

【报告人简介】Aldo Conca is a leading expert in commutative algebra and its interactions with algebraic geometry and combinatorics, having co-authored more than 100 papers published in journals such as Inv. Math, J. Eur. Math. Soc., Amer. J. Math, J. Reine Angew. Math., e.t.c. Together with Winfried Bruns, Claudiu Raicu and Matteo Varbaro, he has co-authored the book “Determinants, Groebner Bases and Cohomology” (2022).

After completing his undergraduate and masters studies in the Mathematics Department in Genova with a thesis written under the supervision of Giuseppe Valla, Aldo Conca obtained his PhD in Essen in 1993 advised by Jurgen Herzog. After the completion of his PhD he returned to Genova where he remains ever since, as a full professor since 2000, and having served as the director of the department from 2015 to 2021.
